Maison de Victor Hugo

Everyone knows that we have plenty of museums options in Paris. In the Marais area (a district of Paris), a great tip of museum to be visited is the Maison de Victor Hugo. It is located close to one of the most beautiful squares of Paris, Place des Vosges, and it is the place where the writer has lived from 1832 to 1848. The house became a museum in 1903 and it was laid out to tell the story of Victor Hugo’s life, through documents, letters, furniture, objects and works of art that belonged to him. We may see gothic furniture in some rooms of the apartment and their disposal was arranged based on old images and furniture from other places where the writer has also lived. Some rooms have been reorganized with some freedom and others follow faithfully the furniture disposal at the time that Victor Hugo lived there. Besides being an extremely interesting visit to learn a little bit more about the writer’s life, it also gives us a better idea of what it was like a nineteenth century apartment.
