Tivoli Gardens

Copenhagen was voted one of the must-see hot spots of 2016 on a list that the global search engine Skyscanner recently released in the press. Indeed, there’re many interesting spots in the Danish capital able to make anyone wanna visit it! From the most famous attractions to the less obvious ones, the city promises really good surprises to its visitors! I guess this isn’t a so well known fact, but the oldest amusement park  still in operation on the world is located in Denmark. Its name is Bakken, and it was simply founded in 1582. Considering it, we can already imagine that the country has a long tradition in this subject. Unlike the amusement parks we usually see in the US that have all the technology and lots of special effects to entertain the audience, the Danish versions that are more old-fashioned style with Ferris wheel, roller coaster and  shot-the-target challenges to get a prize. Opposite Copenhagen Central Station, we have a park that is worth visiting it called Tivoli Gardens.It’s not so much for the amusement rides, but for the nice environment that we find there. It’s the second oldest park in the country after Bakken, but is more accessible and easier to reach on foot for those who are simply walking around the city. You can expect to find there a number of restaurants and shops of sweets and souvenirs. As Copenhagen has a strong Christmas tradition and I’ve visited it close to that time, I can say that Tivoli was particularly lovely this time of year! The decorations were beautiful and perfectly matching with the cold weather of the place. It’s always a good idea to sit in one of the cafes or restaurants with fireplaces or heaters with the blankets they leave on the chairs to enjoy the winter weather if you are there at that time. It’s open from Sunday to Thursday between 11 a.m. and 11 p.m. and from Friday to Saturday between 11 a.m. and 12 a.m.
