Torre de Belém

As Brazil’s History is closely connected to Portugal, being there is always a good opportunity to learn more about my own country as well. In Lisbon, one of the most visited by tourists attractions is the Belém Tower. Along with the nearby Jeronimos Monastery, the place was classified as UNESCO World Heritage Site because of the role it played in the Portuguese maritime discoveries. The fort was built in a strategic position to protect Lisbon in the 16th century. At that time, Portugal was still a global power and stood out in the context of the Great Navigations. It’s worthwhile to go there and get to know the place. The view of the sunset at the Belém Tower is also amazing!
